MIDLAND BRICK

Midland Brick

After quite some time away from mainstream advertising, Midland Brick approached Solo Films to create a new TV campaign to air during the summer of cricket on Channel 7. They were after a strong and emotive message that focussed on family and time spent in and around the home.

With a beautifully written script by Heather Bowen, we built the idea around the family gathering in the home with food and children and a game of backyard cricket. The narrative centred on life’s little moments and that is what we captured – kids engaging with grand parents, dad giving tips on the intricacies of spin bowling, sunscreen and of course, the wrapping of tape around the tennis ball to make it swing.

Our biggest hurdle was finding a home that featured bricks. With most homes being a rendered finish, this proved to be quite a task. Eventually we were given access to the stunning Robinson display from Pindan Homes. This wonderful display home provided the perfect backdrop for our family.

The commercial was beautifully shot by Nigel Tomkinson who has become one of Perth’s foremost cinematographers.

The TVC will feature prominently throughout Channel 7’s coverage of the test series between Australia and India.
